Inspiring Studio Space

I love cleverly designed furniture, I think it can really add inspiration to a space - especially a studio. Here are a few things that I would just love to have in the studio here at Leaff.

The Jubilee & A Curious Bookshop

So this is a little late really, but it is well worth sharing I think. Every year we go to Bromyard for the weekend of their Scarecrow Festival. We dig out the tent, gather a feast, and set ourselves up in the
most idyllic place - right in the countryside, over-looking a beautiful paddock filled with wild flowers,
and the whole valley laid out beyond. It is a time for us to find true tranquility for a couple of days,
and really enjoy nature.

This year, the festival fell on the Jubilee weekend, and so of course, we went armed with a little decoration to mark the event in our own private way. Notice the beautiful bunting, courtesy of
Rob Ryan, and the various celebratory foods, including a rather delicious celebratory punch
- thanks Ocado!

Also on our visits to Bromyard, we do enjoy a mooch around the little village, and its tiny, quirky shops...

Now, nothing excites me quite like an old, curious book, and if you are just as thrilled by these things, then get yourself over to Frank Nutt Antiques.

The shop is absolutely packed to the rafters with very old, tatty books - literally, you can hardly walk through it. The smell of the musty, dusty books; the visual explosion of the old and antique - we could lose hours of time in there, pawing through the treasures that are waiting to be discovered.

I would honestly buy these just for their beautiful exteriors alone - wouldn't they just look magical on a bookcase at home? But really, the insides are just as fascinating no matter what the book, since little notes and letters can often be found within. Private notes of affection, when the books were given as gifts, and old letters dating back to times I can't even imagine, that seem to have been lost and
forgotten between the pages. It is like jumping into the past in so many ways.

So this is really why I wanted to share this with you; to remind us all of the importance of spending some time with nature - it is good for the soul - and of course, to introduce you all to this wonderful bookshop, which really is like stepping into another world.

Introducing Anna Briggs { Brand Identity }

Leaff has been so busy lately, that I thought it would be an ideal time to give you a bit of a peek
at something we have recently worked on, and introduce you to a very special client. I give you,
Anna Briggs...

From the logo development, and the array of materials - letterheads, promotional cards, business cards and folders - to the website and Twitter page, it was such a joy to work on a project so thoroughly.

Anna Briggs is an officiator of bespoke funeral ceremonies. She offers extremely tailor made and personal ceremonies, where family and friends are very much a part of things. For her brand, we really wanted to create a look that was both strong and stable, yet gentle and friendly - just like Anna and the service that she offers.

The colour palette is made up of both earthy and mineral shades - well suited to the company and which work in harmony together. Gentle, pastel green is the leading colour, teamed with a rich and earthy chocolate brown for the folders, and a much softer mushroom brown for the envelopes. The entire of her materials were litho printed in pantone ink, onto a recycled, uncoated stock, and her folders debossed with her logo.

We expect big things from Anna - she has a solid business idea behind her and a brand that we think conveys her company's mission and ethics perfectly. Why not head on over to her Twitter page - she
is very new to the platform, and she has big aims to change the way that we think about dying. Pretty amazing stuff!

Here is a little of what Anna has had to say about this project:

"From day one I thought I was in good hands. Your attention to detail was fantastic. You had a canny knack of ‘getting to know me and how I thought’ – what I was like. You have put in 110% into this – in a way, I feel I’ve been ‘carried through’ if this makes sense! It’s been a pleasure being one of your clients Kaitie. Thank you!"

Afterthought: Brand Boundaries

As I have blogged about before, your brand is not just about your logo and your gorgeous stationery.
It is also about you, and how you conduct yourself.

As I sat in my warm, comfortable chair in a local cafe - a window seat, where the sun streamed through onto my back, latte in hand - I jumped head first into this conversation with a client.

The importance of taking her company's mission statement, and implementing it through everything she does. The way she answers the phone, the booking process for her customers, her clothing, the way she speaks, other businesses she makes connections with, places she advertises - it all plays a part, and it all says something about who her company is.

Just something for you all to bear in mind.

Summer Surprises

Well, here we are, summer has finally reached Leaff and transformed us into a vibrant, lush green, like the leaves that adorn the plants and trees outside.

This season will see the release of some big news for Leaff, which we cannot wait to share with you all
- but until then, may the sun bathe us all in its glory!

What a beautiful time of the year it is - nature seems at its happiest and the plants at their healthiest; positivity is all around. The longer, lighter days make work feel more manageable, and it is a great time to really reflect on your business. But remember, time out to relax actually aids productivity, so it is
vital for your working day. Take it from this little family, who I found relaxing on our garden fence the other day!
